A Perfectly Splendid Quarantine 4th of July! Coronavirus Update - Day 115 and Counting...

Brunch - Warm Cinnamon Buns and Summer Fruit Salad.

The crew diligently lined up for their requisite holiday shot. This was take #30 to get this shot.

Blowing on their holiday pinwheels.

Waving flags. At least 25 tries to get this shot.

Fourth of July crafts on the front lawn under the shade of big tree. It was 93 today, so the shade and light breeze were quite welcome.

Catherine's pom pom and paint American flag.

Miles' pom pom and paint firework show. This was supposed to be a flag but he took the craft in his own direction.

Mommy's pom pom and paint American flag. I actually did crafts today. I make no secret that I don't enjoy crafting, so I think the kids thought someone had hijacked their mother. They were so excited to do crafts with me. I'll admit it wasn't that bad. I may do again, but I'm not starting a crafting blog!

At least we kept the paint on the drop cloth and grass today and not on the hardscape.

Catherine and Mommy's fork-painted fireworks with glitter for extra sparkle.

Neat-nick Mommy insisted on wearing the kid's too small paint smock to do her crafts. This photo is proof-positive that I am not vain.

Catherine and Mommy's painted egg carton American flag. Graham made one as well and we used them to decorate the dinner table.

Garin made this mock-up of the Macy's 4th of July Firework Show over the East River in NYC. He used ships from his Battleship game to serve as the boats the fireworks are set off from. The red and blue construction paper represent the fireworks going up from the ships. The blue swath of paper is the river and he even snuck a little American flag in. This was his pre-teen craft and he said he made it just for me. I was so touched.

Catherine and Graham, my table-scape experts.

A festive table makes everything feel more special

Turkey Hot Dogs with everyone's favorite condiments.

Pasta Salad with Red Peppers, Tomatoes, Diced Celery, Black Olives, Shredded Mozzarella, Chopped Parsley and a Vinaigrette Dressing.

It can't be the 4th of July without slices of cold watermelon.

Strawberry Lemonade.

Homemade Blueberry Pie. Recipe courtesy of Ina Garten.

Warm and served a la mode. Photos cannot do it justice. Delicious!

Catherine doing an after dinner cheerleading show.

Cheerleading might be in her future.

The fun and socially responsible way to enjoy fireworks this year.

My crew certainly did!
